3D laser cutting is a terrific fabrication option for metal parts and sheets.
A benefit of such a laser system over a die cutting press is the ability to quickly adapt the processing geometry. A small change in the part design requires only a program adjustment, not a reworked die with its high cost and timing impact.
How we control the quality of 3D laser cutting
Calibration: The laser cutting machine must be regularly calibrated to ensure accuracy and consistency. The calibration process involves aligning the laser beam with the cutting head and ensuring that the focal length is correct.
Material preparation: The material to be cut must be prepared correctly. This includes ensuring that it is free from any contaminants that could affect the cutting quality and that it is properly aligned on the cutting bed.
Cutting parameters: The cutting parameters, such as power, speed, and frequency, must be carefully chosen based on the material being cut. The optimal settings can be determined through experimentation and testing.
Monitoring: It’s essential to monitor the cutting process to ensure that it is proceeding as expected. This can be done through visual inspection or by using sensors to detect any deviations from the expected cutting path.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance of the laser cutting machine is essential to ensure optimal performance and cutting quality. This includes cleaning the cutting head, replacing worn parts, and ensuring that the machine is properly lubricated.
